Whether it’s hosting a jazz group, living ballet sculptures or the blue-collar-inspired works of Scott E. Murray Jr., the Fisch Haus remains an anchor for the emerging Commerce Street Art District.

The Fisch Haus grew out of an artists' cooperative and for 17 years been developing into one of Wichita’s premiere alternative art houses. It operates out of a three-story warehouse that also includes a full wood and metal shop and a graphic design studio.

On April 27, Murray unveiled “Uprooted,” which traced his family roots in bricklaying to his emergence as a professional artist in Wichita.

Alberto and Lucy Alfonso’s folksy music played as the soundtrack for the reception.
