Browsing by type of offense

The Wichita Police Department provides daily crime data on certain categories of crimes. For each incident, the report contains the type of crime and the address where the crime occurred. If a business was the victim of a crime (in a burglary, for example), the name of the business is provided. If an individual is the victim of a crime (in an assault, for example), the age and sex of the victim is provided.

The maps on this site show the locations of the following types of offenses: ag. assault, burglary, drug offense, homicide, larceny, robbery, vandalism and vehicle theft. Markers on the maps are color-coded by offense.

The daily reports also include reports of rapes and sexual offense, but does not include addresses for these crimes for privacy reasons. That is why crimes in these two categories don't appear on the maps on this site.
