About this map

This map provides details about 25 years of Kansas' worst reported tornadoes. Tornadoes from 1983 to 2007 with a Fujita Scale rating or 2 through 5 are included in this map. Together, they caused 52 deaths, 827 injuries and more than $1.6 billion dollars in damage.

The flags mark the reported location of each tornado and are colored to reflect the strength of the tornado:

• White: F2 (considerable damage)
• Yellow: F3 (severe damage)
• Orange: F4 (devastating damage)
• Red: F5 (incredible damage)

Click on the map markers to find out each tornado's location and time and date of touchdown. If applicable, the number of fatalities and injuries, as well as the amount of damage (in unadjusted dollars) are included.
